Neurospecialty Program

The Nexus Neurospecialty Program is a unique program that offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary treatment approach for individuals with acquired brain injuries and other neurologic conditions. John W. Cassidy, M.D. leads the program with more than twenty-five years of experience treating patients with physical and behavioral comorbidities resulting from acquired brain injury. Dr Cassidy is joined by a dedicated physician team board certified in neurology, psychiatry, internal medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as licensed therapists, nurses and psychology services.

This program is a part of the Nexus Health Systems Neurorecovery Continuum of Care.

The Neurospecialty Program is designed for patients who need treatment for:

• Traumatic brain injury

• Anoxic/hypoxic injury

• Aneurysms

• Stroke

• Seizure disorders

• Congenital neurologic disorders

• Other neurologic impairments

The Neurospecialty Program focuses on:

• Managing pre-existing medical conditions or medical complications resulting from brain injuries
• Rehabilitation
• Restoring cognitive function
• Spasticity Management
• Addressing psychosocial and behavioral issues

Neurospecialty Program Services

• Licensed ICU

• Cardiac monitoring

• IV therapy

• Dedicated 24-hour nursing team trained in neurorecovery

• Dedicated PT/OT/ST team trained in neurorecovery that provide an Early Mobilization Program

• Utilization of advanced rehabilitation equipment such as the Moveo XP

• Dedicated respiratory therapy team trained in neurorecovery

• Early cognitive evaluation and the use of specialty therapy such as VitalStim Therapy

• Comprehensive Behavioral Management Program
