Occupational Therapy

Nexus Specialty Hospital’s Occupational Therapy Services evaluate and build upon a patient’s skills for daily activities. Our licensed therapists aim to provide a patient with the skills needed to achieve independence in all areas of their lives – both cognitive and physical - enhancing a patient’s motor skills while enhancing their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.

Our Approach to Treatment

Our Occupational Therapy treatment at Nexus Specialty Hospital focuses on functional independence in areas of daily living and progression of developmental skills in a patient’s home, community and school/work environments. Patients undergo a comprehensive assessment prior to beginning therapy to determine a treatment plan based on their unique needs. Progress is monitored and goals are updated and modified as needed. The patient’s physician determines frequency and duration of treatment with input from our occupational therapists.

Therapy is conducted through interventions, developmental play, and caregiver/family education to address the following:

  • Visual perception and motor skills
  • Fine motor coordination
  • Social behavior
  • Cognition
  • Self care skills, to include feeding
  • Sensorimotor skills
